Southeast Division Team Previews
The Miami Heat have acquired forward star Jimmy Butler who is now the best player in this division, He along with the improving point forward Justice Winslow and defensive center Bam Adebayo. although they lose a great leader of the team Dwyane Wade after his farewell tour, and Josh Richardson, Hassan Whiteside traded to another team. They still have a veteran player Dion Waiters and have young wings to improved Derrick Jones and their potential rookie scorer Tyler Herro. Miami defense will be pretty good, because of Jimmy Butler addition their offense could posssibly be changed.
- Record prediction: 45-37
Orlando Magic are rank number five in NBA best defensive team this coming 2019-20 season, they make the playoffs last season finishing 20 wins in their last 28 games, after being beaten in the first round NBA playoffs by Toronto Raptors in game 5. They secure their all-star center Nikola Vucevic who led the Magic to finished seventh place in the Eastern Conference to clinch a playoff berth. Terrence Ross re-signed a new four-year deal, Orlando brought back the 2014 NBA Rookie of the year Michael-Carter Williams to add some strength to their backcourt that currently their weakest position. And signed another veteran Al-Farouq Aminu, Aminu has a reputation for being a hard worker, nose to the grindstone type of teammate. They still have growing young player Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Issac, and Mo Bamba.
Orlando Magic starting lineup that will definitely put some wins up this year. Their starters didn’t change from last year, so any offseason moves they made affected their bench. Adopting an “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
- Record prediction: 40-42
The Hawks are coming off of a 29-53 season, where they finished dead last in what was the worst division in basketball. Atlanta ranked fifth-worst both offense and defense overall and in point differential. Out of the east’s rebuilding teams, the Hawks are a great pace to get back to relevance. Trae Young put together a strong rookie season, they added a young role players DeAndre Hunter, Cam Reddish and they can get a solid back up from Evan Turner, Allen Crabbe, Jabari Parker, Alex Len. The Hawks should be able to find there way to a better record against teams below .500, but also steal a few away from strong teams. Improving in a few areas will give the Hawks a bump in wins.
- Record prediction: 36-46
Even without John Wall the Washington Wizard still good in offense because of Bradley Beal versatile scoring game. Troy Brown Jr. and Thomas Bryant will be expected to take on larger roles with the team as they enter their second and third years, they also brought in Isaiah Thomas to hold down the point guard position and hoping to take a big role and rookie Rui Hachimura via the draft. C.J Miles and David Bertans can help the Wizard to get a score outside. But the challenged is they are bad when it comes to defense, the team ranked 28th out of 30 teams last year in defensive efficiency. The Wizards also struggled consistently on the glass, ranking 27th in team rebounds last season. The little rebounding they did have is now gone, too. Dwight Howard, Jabari Parker, and Bobby Portis posted the team’s top three rebounds per game averages. None of them are currently members of the Washington Wizards. Record prediction: 29-53 Charlotte Hornets ( Best odds: +2500 at BetOnline & Sportsbetting)
The Hornets just lost Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb the team now has the task of finding its next franchise leader. I’m not sure how Terry Rozier can take it. Terry Rozier, Zeller, Batum, Bridges, and Bacon with this line-up the Hornets are pretty lacking in talent and will most likely end up at the bottom of the east.
- Record prediction:21-61
