Britain’s number one suffered slight knee pain and was forced to withdraw for China Open Beijing and could not enter next week for the Wuhan tournament in China.

She is expected to play in Moscow in mid-October.

28-year-old Konta is 11th in the annual WTA singles race. The top eight players qualified for the WTA Championship in Shenzhen in China, but the next 11- plus were wildcard- and eligible to compete for the Elite Trophy.

Despite suffering injuries, Konta still wants to qualify for the event, which will be performing in Zhuhai’s Chinese City at the end of October.
