With the upcoming trade deadline, the Washington Redskins are ready to release Trent Williams. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday.
According to Rapoport, Washington began the process of looking at potential suitors, but it was unclear how high the team’s asking price would be. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that Washington is telling teams it has a second-round pick on the table, which means the ‘Skins are likely to hold on for a first-round offer.
The Cleveland Browns are a team with a mix, Rapoport added. Cleveland has long been rumored to be a potential candidate for Williams if the Redskins give up the veteran’s desire to move on.
In addition to buying Williams, Washington is also interested in trading with cornerback Josh Norman, Pelissero added, according to the source. However, the team is struggling to pin down its value, as Norman has made $6 million this season and missed time due to injuries to his thighs and hands.
